Hola party people!
So I woke up this morning and nearly had a baby hippo thinking about it being the last Monday of August. Yeah, I was that shocked.
Good Lord how time flies when you are not having any forward momentum to push you even faster through the days. I've been unemployed for over 10 months now. No, I am not proud nor happy about this fact but it's nothing I can change. I'll just deal.
I have been working on a handful of solutions but all of them seem lame. So lame.
I even emailed the Examiner chick this morning to see if I could start writing under an additional title for interior materials. I seem to have a plethera of knowledge about fabrics and tiles that I want to share with all of you. Instead of just writing about them for sh*ts and giggles here, I could at least try to make a penny per article writing for the Examiner. This new idea formed while I was watching Mad Men and completely falling in love (again) with their wood screens with the intricate patterns on them. Oh so very 1960s. Love at first sight, y'all. I'll be making one of those for myself in the future. All I need is a router!
This weekend was a nice time. Friday night, I played the role of crazy, single gal and stayed home baking two batches of cookies: chocolate chip and chewy caramel filled chocolate cookies. I put the first 12 chocolate chip cookies on the baking sheet to bake and after putting them in the oven, just happened to lick the dough off my fingers. I had to stifle a gag. The dough was awful. That's when I realized I completely left out the part where I was supposed to add baking soda and salt. Needless to say, my first 12 were goners but I was able to salvage the next 48. Whew. Crisis adverted. The other cookies turned out just fine.
Saturday, Lisa and I met up and I took her downtown to the City Market area. I wanted to check out a store I am writing about this week and we took a nice walk through the Market. With iced mocha lattes to help us out. So tasty. We had a nice time.
Afterwards, we went to a wine tasting at the Cork & Barrel and then ate some lunch with Andrew and Josh. Later, the four of us, joined by Crystal and Brian, went to eat sushi. Yum. We even had some sashimi that wasn't too bad. Well, Brian didn't take to it as well as Josh and I did, but oh well. All was good in the end and we went home with full bellys and beer giggles. We ended up sitting outside of their pool for a while chatting and then I went home. I threatened to ride Lisa's bike home but she wouldn't have none of that! It's only 6 blocks!
Yesterday, I was a complete waste as a human being. I did absolutely nothing productive or creative. I am ashamed to say it but it's true. Wait, I did read the entire KC Star. I guess that's SOMETHING.
The first thing I did this morning was put in a load of laundry and vacuum the kitchen floor. Then I washed the kitchen floor. Gabby helped of course. I'm going to clean my living room rug when I get back (on the kitchen floor) to the house. Then lots more house cleaning. I hate leaving town with a dirty house and since me and the kitties are headed out of town at the end of the week, I want everything to be spotless.
I also need to finish Fe and Gus' bar this week. I mean, it's so close to being finished, I'm embarrassed it's not done yet. I'm delivering it to them on Thursday! Woo hoo! I'm also going to pick up our Halloween cut outs and take them to Mom's house so the two of us can work on getting some tombstones, black cats and a witch or two out in her yard for our favorite holiday! That means more jigsaw work this weekend!
Our family reunion is also this weekend so I need to get some things printed out for that. I guess I had better do that today!! I'm going to run out of ink any day now on my computer! Thank goodness the guy in WP sells refills for only $12 each!
I also emailed a certain place last week about employment and I am (not very) patiently awaiting their response. I figure that since nothing is going on around KC, I might as well look outside my current comfort zone. I'll keep you all updated on any changes in that area as they come!
So, don't forget to read my latest George Nelson articles on the Examiner website. I need all the pennies I can get. Make comments too! I like comments!
Until I write again...
